I did a workation for 2.5 weeks at Encantada Bed & Business in the Girona region of northern Spain. The house looks exactly like the photos – just as fabulous! It was very clean and spotless on arrival, and the decor was very pretty. It’s like an interesting blend of modern and slightly old-fashioned that just works!
I had access to lots of great living spaces, including the living room, with its own smart TV, and a rooftop with chairs, tables, and wonderful views for miles. My bed, the yellow blankets, and the living room sofa were very comfy!
Notably, the Wifi was brilliant and never once failed – fabulous and most important as a remote worker! I could get all my work done, play music, and watch Netflix and YouTube with no trouble or interruptions. Brilliant! There was a good desk in my ensuite room (Room Est), as well as another great desk in the living room, where I often worked because I liked the light and working in a room where I was not sleeping.
Ruben Verboomen and Lieselotte Olbrechts were great hosts with whom I could easily communicate if I needed anything. I liked that they also had lots of leaflets in the living room about things to do in the area.
Since I’m more of a city girl, being somewhere so rural for a couple of weeks is not something I’m used to. Public transport is very limited in this village, so the few times I ventured further afield, I’d either get a lift from my hosts or take a taxi. I went twice to the city of Figueres, where I enjoyed exploring the city, and I visited 3 different Salvador Dali museums (the Dalí Theatre-Museum, Dalí Jewels, and the Birthplace of Salvador Dalí, plus Museu de l’Empordà.
On the flip side of rural life, I did get a lot of work done, as it was a very peaceful and distraction-free space to do it! A lot of nature surrounds the villa, so I went out on quite a few walks. There’s also a small farm neighbouring the villa if you want to go say hi to some animals during your lunch break.
I would happily return and bring some friends, and perhaps rent a car or bike to have more freedom to move about. I’d totally recommend Encantada Bed & Business as a great workation spot for you and/or a group! 😁👍
